Winter at Barnweil (2), Scotland

Beautiful conditions at Barnweil monument in Ayrshire. Hoarfrost, mist and a touch of snow on the ground made for a lovely scene.

Barnweil tower emerges through the mist on a vey cold winters morning. It was around minus 6C at the time - the following day it was minus 10C.

A very cold spell with mist and shadows at Barnweil, Ayrshire. The following day was the coldest in more than 10yrs, at minus 10C.

The Enchanted tree

This moss-covered ancient tree has branches and tendrils extending in every direction. I've wanted to photograph it in foggy conditions for years. Finally!

Snow meets Sea 2, Iceland

Ordinarily this volcanic beach is covered in lumps of ice. But the nearby lagoon was frozen, preventing ice from leaving and washing up on the beach. This was a blessing in disguise, as fresh snowfall created this meeting of nature.

A little mountain shelter nestled close to the top of a mountain pass in north Iceland. The patterns in the snow, sculpted by the wind , were beautiful. 24hrs later I passed this again in very different conditions - a complete white out!
